16Beaver is the address of a space initiated/run by artists to create and maintain an ongoing platform for the presentation, production, and discussion of a variety of artistic/cultural/economic/political projects. It is the point of many departures/arrivals.

MONDAY NIGHTS @ 16BEAVER

Since 1999, the Reading Group at 16Beaver has organized presentations, readings, discussions, screenings, and panels with/by artists, curators, thinkers, writers, and activists.

Monday nights are an evening to share time and generate discussions, links, ideas. Meetings usually begin at 7pm and the location is almost always at 16Beaver Street, 5th Floor.

MAILING LISTS / BLOGS

A big part of 16BEAVER happens through our mailing lists and blogs. In order to help create a more interesting future, we need to be connected. Each list includes different features and goals.

EVENTS:
This is a low volume e-mail list (sent out 2 times a week at most) which includes:

The Events Calendar is sent out on Thursday Evenings. It is a listing of weekly art/culture/political events that people on the list believe is interesting. Although the events tend to be based in New York, since our list is international, we do like to post info on interesting events abroad.

GENERAL LIST:
This is our original or "classic" list. It includes materials submitted to us by subscribers which are original (Juurnalisms)or taken off the net (ARTicles + Links). This list can get active but is usually sent out 1-3 times a week.

ARTicles:

ARTicles are various sets of e-mails that attempt to link the interests, concerns, and thoughts of those who subscribe to the list. Since most on the list are tied to other networks or online communities, this lists acts as a META list.
Each person acts as a "filter" forwarding articles, comments, matters they deem are the most interesting, important, pressing. Once we have a handful, we format them, and send them out in one group so that subscribers are not inundated.

Journalisms:

"Journalisms:" or "Our Correspondent:" or "?" The title and mission of this collective project is a work in progress. But the general idea is that we cannot be in all places at all times. So those who would like to can write a "report" or "editorial" or "correspondence" or "essay" to share experiences for the benefit of others.
This project is open, we do not edit material. To take part all you have to do is submit a text/images or both.
