Professional Development Workshops
As part of the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s (www.lmcc.net) arts services and advocacy mission the Professional Development Workshop Series provide individual artists, small arts groups and community-based organizations with professional tools and a forum for exchanging information, resources and opportunities.

How can artists advocate and lobby in their community? How can artists and small nonprofits work to produce tangible results? This workshop will explore formal and informal advocacy practices, with special emphasis on working with elected officials, and identifying the proper channels for lobbying. Basics of the policy-making process and the roles of individuals and organizations as effective participants will be discussed.
Financial Literacy for Small Arts Organizations

LMCC will partner with JP Morgan Chase to present a workshop on financial literacy for small arts organizations. Arts managers and administrators will be able to identify financial management strategies that address issues of concern to start-up nonprofits, such as budgeting as an organizational planning tool, finding an accountant, and payroll systems.
