Call for artists as part of Rule of Thumb
As part of the Rule of Thumb: Contemporary Art and Human Rights
programme, the Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow (GoMA) is offering an
artist in residence position and opportunities for artists to work on
issued based collaborative projects with community groups.
For Visual Artists:
GoMA – Artist in Residence £4000 (to include fees and materials). The
artist will be required to respond to the issue of violence against
women and develop new work to be shown as part of the Rule of Thumb
programme at GoMA. The residency will be for 1 month, June 2005, and the
artist will be expected to facilitate 6 workshops and 1 open studio day
with the final work being displayed in GoMA with the possibility of it
being proposed to the Council’s Contemporary Art Purchase Panel. To

For artists of all disciplines (visual artists, performance artists,
musicians, writers etc):
8 outreach participatory arts projects, where artists of all disciplines
will collaborate with women’s groups, refuge projects and identified
organisations across the city, enabling participants to create new work
looking at violence against women issues. Fees and materials to be
negotiated for each project. The artists will have experience of working
with partner organisations, youth and women’s groups and the community
to develop new issue based work. To apply please send CV, including
