The Stop Shopping Gospel Choir, 25 voices strong, joyously celebrates the victory.
Reverend Billy is the creation of Obie award winner artist Bill Talen. The Church of Stop Shopping is an interactive play directed by Savitri Durkee, musical director Benny key, conductor James Solomon Benn. Reverend Billy and The Stop Shopping Gospel Choir were invited performers at The Burning Man Festival and can be seen regularly at their home stage in New York, St Mark?s Church.
This show is the first installment in a national tour that will include the New Hampshire Primary, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Oregon, and California, and international appearances in Berlin, London, and Barcelona. Bill Talen?s book What Should I do if Reverend Billy is in My Store was recently published by The New Press. Reverend Billy and The Church of Stop Shopping have been the subject of numerous American and European documentaries. Tomato Records will release a CD of their work in Spring, 2004.
