Wade have never faded, and the past 30-plus years of U.S. political history can perhaps be comprehended merely by looking at the support for and criticism of the Supreme Court’s 1973 landmark abortion case. New School President Bob Kerrey will speak with Linda Greenhouse, who covers the Supreme Court for The New York Times and has written a fascinating biography about the jurist who wrote the majority decision at the heart of the controversy, Becoming Justice Blackmun. Kerrey and Greenhouse will discuss the legal and political issues, as well as Blackmun’s influential friendship with then-Chief Justice Warren Burger.
