Tariq Ali is a writer and filmmaker. He has written more than a dozen books on world history and politics, as well as scripts for the stage and screen. He is an editor of the New Left Review and lives in London . His books include Bush in Babylon , Clash of Fundamentalisms, and the forthcoming Pirates of the Carribean: Axis of Hope.
Mahmood Mamdani is the Herbert Lehman Professor of Government and Anthropology and Director of the Institute for African Studies at Columbia University . His recent writings focus on the intersection between politics and culture, and the politicization of culture in the making of political identities. His books include Good Muslim, Bad Muslim: America , the Cold War, and the Roots of Terror, and When Victims Become Killers: Colonialism, Nativism, and the Genocide in Rwanda .
