The Way Things Go, Peter Fischli & David Weiss, 1987, 30min. A record of the self-destructing performance of Fischli’s and Weiss’ most ambitious construction: 100 feet of physical interactions, chemical reactions, and precisely crafted chaos worthy of Rube Goldberg or Alfred Hitchcock.
Radio Bikini, Robert Stone, 1987, 56 min.
This film recounts the largest scale operation to test nuclear weapons in world history. Staged by the US at the Pacific atoll called Bikini in 1946,the tests were also one of the first great “media events” of the modern age. Using never before-seen archival footage, the film unfolds through the eyes of the elderly chief of the Bikinians and a former American serviceman who was there.
Robert Stone will be present to introduce his film.
