Join us for an informal wine reception marking the last evening of programs
at AS A SATELLITE >> Rés do Chão. A limited edition publication by Rés do
Chão produced on the occasion of AS A SATELLITE will be launched and
distributed during the evening.
During the evening, performances and actions by Grupo Empreza and artists
Angela Freiberger and Tato Texeira, who are residing at Rés do Chão in New
York; conversations with Rio de Janeiro art historian and curator, Cecilia
Cotrim; on exhibition, projects by dozens of artists, Bruno Vieira, Grupo
Los Valderramas, Cyríaco Lopes, among others. Multiple videos, slides, and
power-point screenings of artists’ projects and recordings of the 40-day
residency of Rés do Chão in New York City. (Except for the performances,
which will be held during the evening only, most projects will be on view at
Rés do Chão on December 9 during the day. The loft will be opened to the
public beginning at Noon.)
Rés do Chão is a Brazilian alternative space that is temporarily based in
New York realizing Açúcar Invertido II, a 40-day “quarantine” or series of
events and programs with artists and cultural workers “manifesting symptoms
of contemporary art.” Açúcar Invertido II is realized under the umbrella of
AS A SATELLITE, a program of The Americas Society with independent cultural
initiatives of the Americas. AS A SATELLITE is generously supported by The
Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Additional support has been
provided by the Elliott Family Foundation.
